Named the word of the year by Oxford Dictionary selfies now more and more penetrate our life. It all started with harmless food pics on Instagram but it’s time to realize selfies are an essential part of our lives today. We take them everywhere from restaurants to restrooms, we’re following the latest trends and creating special gadgets and accessories. Today with new security technologies introduced by various payment systems we can pay by our voice, fingerprints and even selfies. MasterCard has already established a new system MasterCard Identity Check to the UK citizens. It allows you to pay online using your face or fingerprints. MasterCard is not the only one to introduce biometric authentication – both Androids and Windows Phones can now be unlocked by your face. They say that verifying your identity with passwords is no longer secure, that’s why Amazon has also introduced a new patent app for online payments. One can’t just use a photo to verify identity – it’ll actually take you two steps to pay. First you send your selfie and then you’ll be asked to blink or smile to continue the operation.
Rather simple, isn’t it? It seems we are going to see even more selfies in the near future. By the way it’s a nice way to hide your ‘selfieshness’: “I’m just making my payments right now”
